KAZIM TAYCI: MIGRATION WILL BE DECISIVE IN THE YIELD ACROSS THE EARTHQUAKE ZONE

Kazım Taycı, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (İHBİR), said, “Since the people of the region migrate rather than the sections created by the fault line, the fields cannot be planted and necessary applications cannot be made during the planting period, such as spraying, fertilization and harrowing. Because of this, the yield may decline.”

Emphasizing that the greatest danger to agricultural production is the possible migration from the region, Taycı explained:

“The main loss in production may arise due to the fact that people leave the region after sowing and planting and the inability to provide the services required for the product. It may be affected due to irrigation, fertilization, spraying, the migration of working people from that region and the inability to make the necessary applications to the soil and the product.”

“Due to the migration of the people of the region rather than the cross-section made by that fault line there, the fields cannot be planted, necessary applications cannot be made during the planting period, spraying, fertilization and hoeing cannot be done. Due to these failures, the yield may decline. After all, if there is no human being, this product does not end on its own in the field. Interventions are needed,” he added…
