VEGETABLE OIL SECTOR ACCOUNTS FOR 58 DOLLARS OF EVERY 100 DOLLARS FROM THE AEGEAN!

The vegetable oil sector accounted for 58 dollars of every 100 dollars exported from the Aegean…

Muhammet Öztürk, who announced the 2022 export scorecard of the Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association (EHBYİB) on the basis of sectors, said in his written statement, “Our vegetable oil exporters made the biggest contribution to the exports of our Association in 2022 with a hike of 51 percent and an amount of 580 million dollars. In other words, out of every 100 dollars in exports we made in 2022, our vegetable oil exporters made 58 dollars. Our meals and animal feed exports amounted to 123 million dollars with an increase of 67 percent, our exports of oil seeds amounted to 98 million dollars with an increase of 140 percent, our chocolate and confectionery exports amounted to 48 million dollars with an increase of 3 percent and food preparations amounted to 41 million dollars with an increase of 25 percent.”

“We made a bright start to 2023.”

Underscoring that they made a bright start to 2023 as the cereals, pulses and oilseeds sector, Chairman Öztürk continued his words as follows; “In January, our industry’s exports across Türkiye soared by 19.3 percent from 829 million to 989 million dollars. Our exports from our Association rose by 20 percent from 63 million dollars to 76 million dollars. While Iraq maintained its top position in our sector with 164 million dollars of exports across the country, our exports to the Russian Federation jumped by 161 percent from 17 million dollars to 44 million dollars.”

“The Russian Federation gives the impression that it will be one of the markets where our industry will gain strength in 2023. EHBYİB statistics also support this impression. In January 2023, the country to which we exported the most from the Aegean Region was the Russian Federation with a spike of 1.488 percent and an amount of 9 million dollars. Algeria followed Russia with 7 million dollars of exports. While Djibouti and Libya were ranked after Algeria with 5 million dollars of exports each, Germany found its place among the top 5 countries with an increase of 210 percent and an export of 4 million dollars,” he concluded…
