Intense interest in the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector in Russia

WorldFood Moscow Fair, which was held for the 31st time between 20-23 September 2022 in Moscow, the capital of Russia, had 700 exhibitors from 24 countries and over 17 thousand visitors from 75 countries.
Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) Vice Coordinator and Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association Chair Hayrettin Uçak said, “As Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable exporters, we participated in the 31st WorldFood Moscow Fair and took our place with 65 companies from our food sector. Russia is our most important market in fresh fruit and vegetables and it is an important potential market for the fruit and vegetable products sector. In 2021, Türkiye’s 3 billion 80 million dollar fresh fruit and vegetable exports to 148 countries and regions are in the first place with Russia with 1 billion 13 million dollars. In the Aegean’s exports of 369 million dollars of fresh fruit and vegetables in 2021, Russia is our main market with 165 million dollars.”
Underlining that 33 percent of the country’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports are to Russia, Uçak explained, “Even though there is a war environment, our trade continues fluently. The interest of Russian companies in our products was at a high level as always. Türkiye has a great advantage in the Russian market due to both geographical proximity and quality assurance in all its products. Our greatest wish is the normalization of the war between Russia and Ukraine.”
“In addition, after this process, we want the tomato quota imposed by Russia on Türkiye to be completely abolished. We would like to thank our Moscow Ambassador, Mr. Mehmet Samsar, who did not leave us alone during the fair, our Chief Commercial Counselors Mr. Alper Eriten and Mr. Mustafa Gökçeoğlu, the President of the Russian-Turkish Businessmen’s Association Naki Karaaslan and all the institutions along with individuals who supported us. I wish the fair to be beneficial for our country, exporters and importers. In order to promote the export products of our sector, our fair and delegation participation will continue to increase in the coming period,” he added…
