Explaining that fresh tomato exports increased by 3 percent to 313 million dollars in 2020, Hayrettin Uçak, Chairperson of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (EYMSİB) said that Russia, which maintains its top place in fresh fruit and vegetable exports, ranks first with 62 million dollars in fresh tomato exports.
Hayrettin Uçak said, “The export range of Turkish tomatoes covers a wide geography from Europe to the Gulf countries. We experienced export increases in all of our main markets in fresh tomatoes, which is the biggest item of the tomato product group that we export to 51 countries.”
“The share of tomato exports by countries is Romania 38%, Ukraine 21%, Bulgaria 19%, Syria 140%, Belarus 60%, Poland 33% and Germany 37%. Among the emerging markets are Oman, Albania, Dubai and the United Kingdom. In the January-April period, Turkey’s overall fresh tomato exports rose by 7 percent while reaching 170 million dollars,” Hayrettin Uçak added…
