The Turkish fishery and animal products sector, which aims to reach an export volume of 3.5 billion dollars by the end of 2023, presented its seafood and animal products to importers from all over the world at the ANUGA Food Fair held in Cologne, Germany.
Sinan Kızıltan, Chairman of the Sector Board of Turkish Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Associations, shared the information that 290 companies from Turkey participated in the Anuga Fair, which hosts the world’s largest meeting in the food industry. Kızıltan said Turkey ranks third in attendance.
Pointing out that the Turkish aquaculture and animal products sector has increased its exports by 38 percent from 1 billion 731 million dollars to 2 billion 382 million dollars in the January-September period of 2021, Kızıltan said, “From seafood to poultry meat and eggs, from honey to dairy products, we have a product range that meets nutritional needs. The increase in healthy food consumption demand during the epidemic had a positive impact on our export figures. Although we could not organize physical fairs and sectoral trade delegations, we are having a successful period. Our annual exports exceeded 3 billion dollars for the first time. We continue our promotional activities in order to reach the 3.5 billion dollars export target we set for 2023 beforehand.”
The Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, which increased its exports by 31 percent in the last 1 year from 932 million to 1 billion 226 million dollars and became the leading Association in food exports in the Aegean Region, participated in the Anuga Fair held in Cologne. During the fair, Turkish Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Associations Sector Board Chairman Sinan Kızıltan, Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association Board Members Nedim Kalpaklıoğlu and Osman İşlek informed the importers about the Turkish fishery and animal products sector.
At the ANUGA Food Fair, while Turkish companies made their presentations in 9 different specialization halls, the fishery and animal products sector took its place in Hall 4.1, where frozen products are predominant.
