Noting that the fresh fruit and vegetable sector is of strategic importance due to the net foreign currency input it provides to the national economy, creating employment for millions of people in the process from harvesting to packaging, from transportation to export, Gürüz said: “We continue to work day and night to ensure that the hard work and efforts of our producers are met with higher values in international markets and to create a picture of pride worthy of the 100th anniversary of our Republic.”

Pointing out that the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), European Union and Middle East countries are predominant in the exports of the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector, Gürüz explained: “While we strengthen our presence in our main markets, we aim to ramp up our market diversity, especially in the Far East countries. In line with these goals, we carry out extensive studies on the selection of environmentally friendly agricultural control methods, training of producers and harvest workers regarding harvest and post-harvest processes, packaging and marketing.”

“By participating in delegations and fairs that will benefit our industry, we are making important moves to strengthen the perception that ‘Turkish goods are of high quality’,” Gürüz added…
