Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, stated that the European Union ranked first with a share of 40.5 percent in the fresh fruit and vegetable market in September, the Middle East countries had a share of 25.7 percent and the Commonwealth of Independent States had a share of 21.2 percent.
Ferhat Gürüz said the following while evaluating the exports of the sector in the 9th month of the year according to the countries: “In the list of countries to which we exported the most fresh fruit and vegetables in September, Russia ranked first with a value of 38.4 million dollars, Iraq ranked second with a value of 34.1 million dollars and Germany ranked third with a value of 29.1 million dollars. These countries were followed by Romania, Syria, Ukraine, Poland, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.”
Indicating that in September, they achieved the strongest increases in export volume in Syria, Dubai, Italy, Poland and the United Arab Emirates, Gürüz added, “We exported 15 million dollars to Syria with an increase of 746 percent, 2.9 million dollars to Dubai with an increase of 310 percent, 3.3 million dollars to Italy with an increase of 87 percent, 10.1 million dollars to Poland with an increase of 80 percent and 3.8 million dollars to the United Arab Emirates with an increase of 80 percent.”
