Historic harvest requires historic records in exports…

Historical harvest in olive and olive oil has set big targets in exports…

The country, which has risen to the world’s first place in table olive production and strengthened its position as the world’s second in olive oil thanks to its investments in the olive sector in the last 20 years, has entered a historical season in which 475 thousand tonnes of olive oil and 750 thousand tonnes of table olives are expected.

Emre Uygun, Chair of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZİB), who held a press conference at EIB, stated that the country saw the historical peak with 750 thousand tonnes of table olives and 475 thousand tonnes of olive oil yield in the 2024/25 season, said, “The historical yield obliges us to break historical records in exports. We will work to export 200 thousand tonnes of olive oil and 100 thousand tonnes of table olives in the 2024/25 season in order to make the fruits of our olive trees, which Turkish producers have grown for many years, become value-added and to ensure that our producers are rewarded for their efforts and to bring 1 billion dollars in foreign currency to our country. In the next 5-year term, we will work day and night to ramp up our annual exports to 1.5 billion dollars.”

Sectoral trade delegation to the USA…

Informing that their first marketing activity in 2025 will be a ‘Sectoral Trade Delegation’ to the United States of America, the second largest market in the world with an annual consumption of 375 thousand tonnes of olive oil on 3-8 March 2025, Uygun continued as follows; “Apart from the ‘Sectoral Trade Delegation’ to the USA, we will actively take part in many international fairs such as Summer Fancy Food Show and Expo West in the USA, Foodex in Japan, China International Import Expo in China to promote Turkish olives and olive oil. We are pleased that Turkish olives and olive oil attracted great interest in the TURQUALITY Project, in which six food exporters‘ Associations within the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) promoted Turkish food products in the United States of America. We will continue to take part in such collaborations in the coming years.”
