Savran: “The raiser cannot earn money below these prices”

Çanakkale Sheep and Goat Breeders Provincial Association announced the recommended price for sheep and goat milk for 2021. Considering the data from 7 thousand members, Çanakkale Breeders’ Association calculated the cost of sheep and goat milk in its report.

According to the report prepared by the Association; In order for the monthly income of the producer to reach the minimum wage, the price of goat milk per litre should not be less than 5.5 TL and the price of sheep milk should not be less than 7.5 TL in 2021.

PANDEMIC INCREASED INTEREST IN OVINE’S MILK!

Referring to the increased interest in sheep and goat milk after the pandemic, Çanakkale Sheep and Goat Breeders Provincial Association Chairperson Assoc. Dr. Ferhan Savran said, “With the pandemic, the rise in demand for sheep and goat milk and the products obtained from this milk has had a positive effect on both the prices of dairy animals and the price of raw milk sold. Çanakkale is one of the leading provinces in dairy goats and dairy sheep.”

“The demand for sheep and goat milk, which is the raw material of Ezine cheese, has expanded the interest in dairy sheep and goat breeding in Çanakkale. In this sense, approximately 7 thousand families in Çanakkale province earn their living from sheep and goat milk breeding. Çanakkale is the leader in registered goat milk production,” Dr. Savran noted.

“One of the most important factors that increase registration is the raw milk support provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Producers must sell certified milk in order to receive raw milk support,” Dr. Savran added…
