BIG RISE IN EXPORTS FROM İZMİR…

Press release…

Evaluating the first 6 months of exports in 2020 İzmir Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Mustafa Özen said, “Our province has been exporting many products such as vegetable products, animal products, aquatic products, ornamental plants and seedlings. When we look at the first 6 months of 2019, approximately 202 thousand tons of agricultural products were exported from İzmir port. In the same period of this year, despite the coronavirus that affects the whole world and all areas of life, we are proud of increasing this figure to 320 thousand tons. İzmir is a very lucky region with its agricultural product variety, fertile soil and conscious producers. And we produced it together in this process and turned it into an advantage.”

Özen said that approximately 128 thousand tons of vegetable products and 45 thousand tons of animal products were exported from İzmir in the first half of 2019.

Özen added, “Since the beginning of 2020, we have reached the export figures exceeding 211 thousand tons in İzmir. When we look at these figures, we can say that there has been a 65 percent increase. In the first half of 2020, we exported Grains, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products, Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, Fruit and Vegetable Products, Dried Fruits and Products, Nuts and Products, Olive and Olive Oil, Tobacco, Ornamentals and Products.”

“We obtained 1.508.899.020 dollars in the first six months of this year, the amount of exports of dried fruits and products that reached 43 thousand tons and increased 67 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Besides there is a 50 percent increase in all export items of vegetable products. There is only a decline in ornamental plants. This is related to the Covid-19 process, which is effective worldwide. Our production continues without slowing down and we know that we will reach our targeted figures in the export of ornamental plants until the end of the year. When we look at Fisheries and Livestock Products, our export figure, which was 44 thousand tons in the first half of the previous year, is about to reach 60 thousand tons this year. There is also a rise of 33.47 percent in this figure.”
