“WE FOCUS ON SEED BREEDING IN DOMESTIC MARKET”

HEKTAŞ purchased the production and sales right of Pehlivan07 hybrid silage corn variety from TAGEM, the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. HEKTAŞ General Manager Levent Ortakçıer stated that they focus on seed breeding in the domestic market.

Levent Ortakçıer, OYAK Agriculture and Livestock Group President and HEKTAŞ General Manager, said that they are making investments in becoming a strong player in the global arena by following the innovations in the field of agricultural production and food, both in our country and in the world.

Ortakçıer noted that they will enter new markets, especially in the Middle East and the Caucasus, with the acquisition of Sunset Chemical Agriculture Products, which is an important player in the market, with their needs-oriented products.

Indicating that they have achieved many innovations in agriculture and animal husbandry with the investments they have made in the last three years, Ortakçıer added, “We have accelerated our studies especially in the field of seed production. Together with our newly established breeding team, we continue our breeding activities on tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, wheat, corn and cotton seeds at full speed.”

“In this context, we carry out joint projects with TAGEM, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, with universities and research institutes. Seed breeding studies are studies that spread over the long term and we can get their return in 5-10 years. We believe that we will start to release our new seeds registered as HEKTAŞ one by one as of next year,” Ortakçıer concluded…
