Turkish food products were introduced in Japan…
Foodex Japan2025 Fair, the largest food fair in the Far East, was the stage for the show of Turkish food products between 11-14 March 2025.

Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) organised Türkiye’s National Participation in Foodex Fair for the 25th time with the participation of 42 successful companies in the food sector in Türkiye and enabled 42 Turkish companies to hold more than 500 bilateral meetings with 150 Japanese importer companies in order for the country to get more share from Japan’s 70 billion dollars food imports.
Stating that the friendship and cooperation between Türkiye and Japan, which started with the Ertuğrul Frigate, has shown a great development every year, Bedri Girit, Chair of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, noted that they are happy to return to Türkiye by adding a new one to joint projects at Foodex Japan 2025.

Pointing out that Türkiye’s average export price per kg of food products is 1.3 dollars, Girit said, “Our average export price reaches 2.6 dollars in our exports of food products to Japan. Today, although Japan’s economy seems to be bleeding due to high inflation and the falling value of the yen against the dollar, it will continue to be an important export market for us in the medium and long term. With the experience we have gained from our successful Turkish Tastes project in the USA, we want to successfully implement a successful TURQUALITY Project in Japan with the support of our Ministry of Commerce and in partnership with Otsuma Women’s University and ramp up our food exports to Japan to 1 billion dollars.”
“On the other hand, we expect the ongoing Free Trade Agreement negotiations between Türkiye and Japan to be finalised as soon as possible. While European Union countries export food products to Japan with zero customs duty, our exports by paying customs duty negatively affect our competitiveness. The Japanese liked our sushi tasting event with Turkish salmon and tuna at the Foodex Fair,” Girit added…
