Ahmet Vehbi Bakırlıoğlu: ” We are going to a record in the import of meat and meat products!”
Member of the Türkiye Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Plan and Budget Commission, Republican People’s Party (CHP) Manisa Deputy Ahmet Vehbi Bakırloğlu examined the import of live animals, meat and meat products.
Bakırlıoğlu, who drew attention to the depletion of animal wealth as a result of the wrong agricultural and import policy of the government, said: “In the first 5 months of 2024, imports of meat and meat products have reached 275 million dollars. This figure was 363 million dollars in 2023. Türkiye is heading towards a record import of meat and meat products. We can neither consume nor produce meat anymore.”
“Record will be broken in meat imports!”
Pointing out that imports of meat and meat products reached 275 million dollars in the first 5 months of 2024, Bakırlıoğlu explained, “Imports of meat and meat products are heading towards a record. Until today, the highest import of meat and meat products was made in 2023. In the whole of 2023, 363 million dollars of meat and meat products were imported; in the first five months of 2023, 62 million 724 thousand dollars of imports were made. In the first five months of 2024, imports of meat and meat products reached 275 million dollars.”
“In other words, there is a 4.3-fold increase in imports compared to the same period last year. Looking at this picture, we expect a record in the import of meat and meat products,” Bakırlıoğlu added…
