Chairman of the Antalya Commodity Exchange Ali Çandır, who drew attention to the importance of agricultural areas in Antalya province, disclosed that agricultural areas are rapidly disappearing due to the increasing zoning pressure day by day.

“Especially in the last few years, the rent hikes applied by landowners have become a threat to the sustainability of agricultural activities. On this issue, which was also on the agenda in our professional committees meetings, our members stated that there are exorbitant rent demands by ignoring investments in rent hikes by landowners. They shared that the demanded rent increase rates are arbitrary and that it has become impossible to stay in production with the demanded rents” Çandır said.
Pointing out that the sustainability of agricultural production in Antalya region, which is the centre of Türkiye in greenhouse production with a share of 41 percent, is of critical importance in terms of agricultural, food and economic policies, Çandır added, “Our members demand an urgent regulation for rental agricultural areas in order to maintain sustainability in production, trade, exports and new investment decisions are not adversely affected.”
