Union of Turkish Agricultural Chambers (TZOB) President Şemsi Bayraktar said that it is estimated that there will be a decrease in product yield next year. It is expected that there will be almost one hundred per cent damage due to frost in the products planned to be harvested in the Çukurova region around the end of April.”

TZOB President Şemsi Bayraktar evaluated the frost disaster affecting agricultural areas, price changes before Ramadan, producer and market prices in February and changes in input costs.

“In order not to lose our producers damaged by the frost disaster, the loan debts of the producers in the region should be postponed without interest,” Bayraktar said.

“The agricultural sector has always been the most damaged by natural disasters. Recently, frost disaster occurred in many provinces in the Mediterranean, especially Adana, Mersin and Hatay and affected agricultural production. The frost disaster caused damage to peach, apricot, plum, potato, watermelon, some unharvested citrus fruits and some vegetables such as pumpkin, aubergine, pepper, cucumber.
