Harvest of Karakılçık wheat has started…

Harvest of Karakılçık wheat, in 2011 found as a handful in Gödence of Seferihisar (a district of İzmir province) started.

Seferihisar Municipality, which has grown the seed of the Karakılçık wheat that has begun to be forgotten, grinded it in the stone mill and produced the bread called as “Ata Bread”, started harvesting this year’s Karakılçık wheat.

The flour made from completely natural Karakılçık wheat and the bread made by women living in Turgut and Ulamış villages in stone ovens meet the consumers in the grocery stores operated by Seferihisar Municipality.

Seferihisar Mayor İsmail Yetişkin, stating that they could not hold the Karakılçık wheat and Armola festival due to Covid-19 measures, but they are always with the villagers, said, “With this Purchase Guaranteed Project, we produce this seed in a 350 decares of land for this year. Besides we pay, as the municipality, three times more to our villagers of the base price announced by the state for wheat. In this way, our producers will earn more and thus produce more. As Seferihisar Municipality, we continue our works in this direction, we are always with our producers.”
