AEGEAN REGION SIGNS OVER 25 BILLION DOLLARS OF EXPORTS…

Aegean Region, where exports firstly began in Turkey, according to data from customs offices, made an export of 25 billion 259 million dollars in 2020, while its imports remained at 18 billion 210 million dollars.

According to a written statement made by the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, (EİB) the foreign trade volume of the Aegean Region in 2020 was 43 billion 469 million dollars.

While the export from Aliağa Customs Directorate was 12 billion 645 million dollars, the İzmir Customs Directorate recorded 7 billion 763 million dollars of exports. Aegean Free Zone Directorate on the other hand; It took the third place in the summit with exports of 1 billion 791 million dollars.

According to TURKSTAT (Turkish Statistical Institute) data; The export figure of the Aegean Region provinces is 21 billion 474 million dollars and the import was 13 billion 633 million dollars. According to the data of the customs directorates in the Aegean Region, while the ratio of Aegean Region’s exports to import was 139 percent, the ratio of Aegean Region provinces to meet their imports reached 158 percent.

Eskinazi: Aegean Region has proven its exporter identity

Pointing out that Izmir has taught exports to Turkey, EİB Coordinator Chairperson Jak Eskinazi noted, “Aegean exporters have proven the exporter identity of the Aegean region in 2020 too.”
