Aegean exporters of aquatic products has made 741 million dollars of exports and marked their brand in Turkey’s fisheries exports amounted to 1 billion 53 million dollars in 2020.
Stating that Turkey has been improving its fisheries exports every year, which was only 59 million dollars in 2000, Turkey Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Associations Industry Board Chairman Sinan Kızıltan said, “The contribution of Aegean fishermen in the success of our industry is very large.”
Giving the information that 164 companies in the Aegean Region contributed to the exports of aquaculture products in 2020, Kızıltan noted, “After 2000, modern facilities have been established in the aquaculture sector by entrepreneurs in the Aegean Region. Thanks to the production in these facilities, our aquaculture production increased to 836 thousand tons. 373 thousand tons of this production is obtained from farmers. We made 84 percent of our aquaculture exports of 1 billion 53 million dollars in 2020 from products obtained from aquaculture. 8 of the top 10 companies in aquaculture exports are Aegean exporters. We aim to exceed 1 billion dollars in exports of aquaculture from the Aegean Region in 2023.”
Aegean Exporters’ Associations, meanwhile, shared the stars of export with the public through newspaper advertisements when they had to postpone the “Stars of Export Award Ceremony” that it organizes every year due to the pandemic this year.

The first three companies brought 418 million dollars in as foreign exchange while they succeeded in having the first three places within the all industry across Turkey.
