Akhisar Commodity Exchange’s Global Vision…

Akhisar, Türkiye’s western province of Manisa’s district and the country’s olive and olive oil hub, is ready for its new goals to transform its production power into a global competitive advantage. At the event, attended by approximately a thousand people, companies demonstrating success in transaction volume in 2025 were awarded, and the Licensed Warehousing Project was also introduced.
Akhisar Commodity Exchange Chairman Alper Alhat stated that Akhisar is progressing towards becoming one of the strongest centres of the world olive and olive oil sector with its production power, industrial infrastructure and export capabilities.
MORE PRODUCTION, STRONGER EXPORTS…
Alhat noted that the reduction of VAT on olive oil from 8 to 1 percent and the exclusion of olives and olive oil from the GEKAP (Recycling Participation Fee) are significant gains for the sector, adding, “We fought not only for Akhisar district but for the entire olive sector in Türkiye” Alhat emphasized that the country’s potential in olives and olive oil should be more strongly utilized in world markets, stating that products from Akhisar currently reach all 81 provinces of Türkiye and more than 100 countries.
“There are still around 50 countries we haven’t reached yet. This means new markets. Our vision is to produce more and not be afraid of production. The way to achieve this is to create more added value, increase efficiency and gain a larger share of world markets,” he said.
LICENSED WAREHOUSING AND “GOLDEN WATER”
Pointing out that one of the most important problems for producers and industrialists is financing costs and inventory management, Alhat underlined, “The Licensed Warehousing Project will ensure the safe storage of products, facilitate access to financing and strengthen trade. The licensed warehousing system is not just a storage investment, this project will enable our producers to sell their products at their true value, maintain quality, facilitate access to financing and contribute to trade being conducted on a stronger foundation.”
Referring to the ongoing efforts to utilize the wastewater generated during olive oil production for economic benefit, Alhat explained, “We don’t call it wastewater, we call it Golden Water. This transformation will both protect the environment and create new economic value for the producers.”
