Saffet Kalyoncu: Eastern Black Sea exports approached 1 billion dollars

Saffet Kalyoncu, Chair of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), reported that in the Eastern Black Sea Region, exports from Trabzon, Rize, Artvin and Gümüşhane provinces, amounted to 933 million 602 thousand 83 dollars covering the January-July period of 2024.

“There is a 9 percent increase in exports compared to the previous year,” Kalyoncu said.

Pointing out that in the first 7 months of 2024, the sectors with the highest exports from Trabzon, Rize, Artvin and Gümüşhane provinces of the Eastern Black Sea Region, Kalyoncu added:

  • Hazelnut with 442 million 777 thousand 840 dollars,
  • 128 million 700 thousand 774 dollars with Aquaculture and Livestock Products,
  • 108 million 733 thousand 767 dollars with Fresh Fruit and Vegetables,
  • 101 Million 135 thousand 639 dollars with Mining and Metals,
  • 22 Million 787 thousand 906 dollars with Chemical Substances and Products.

Explaining that in the January-June period of 2024, exports were made to 135 different countries from Eastern Black Sea Region and the top 5 countries with the highest exports were the Russian Federation, Italy, Germany, Georgia and the People’s Republic of China, respectively, Kalyoncu concluded, “Among these countries, exports to the Russian Federation soared by 15 percent, exports to Italy by 13 percent, exports to Germany by 10 percent, exports to Georgia by 10 percent and exports to the People’s Republic of China by 7 percent.”
