Cengiz Balık, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, announced that Türkiye’s lemon exports increased from 230,000 tonnes in 2002 to 577,000 tonnes in 2024.

“Our lemon exports have surged by 2.5 times in 22 years. While it is too early to talk about the 2026 harvest, we expect a higher harvest than in 2025. The spike in lemon exports will continue to rise in the coming years, reaching 1 billion dollars in the medium term,” he said.
Iraq, Russia and Romania topped the list of lemon export destinations…
Providing information about the leading lemon exporting countries, Cengiz Balık, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, noted, “In 2025, the countries to which we exported the most lemons were Iraq with 161.5 million dollars, the Russian Federation with 81 million dollars and Romania with 23.7 million dollars. The ranking remained unchanged in the January-April period of 2026. Iraq maintained its first place with 64.5 million dollars, while lemon exports to Russia soared by 62 percent, from 30.6 million to 50 million dollars, solidifying its second place. Romania ranked third with 14.5 million dollars in exports.”
“With an export performance of 195 million dollars in the January-April period of 2026, lemons became our fourth most exported fresh fruit and vegetable product after tangerines, tomatoes and peppers,” he added…
