The Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB) recorded exports worth 148.4 million dollars in August. Whilst the volume of exports fell by 8 percent compared with the same month last year, the fact that the decline in value was limited to 2 percent indicated that revenue per kilogram had risen. Pulses accounted for the largest share of exports at 42.4 million dollars, whilst a 57 percent spike in value within the vegetable oil group was particularly noteworthy. The strong export performance across a broad geographical area—stretching from the Middle East to Africa and from Europe to the Far East—demonstrated that AHBİB is rapidly expanding its market diversification.

Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the AHBİB Board of Directors, stated that the August figures reflected the sector’s strategic shift towards focusing on value rather than volume.
“Although we exported a smaller volume of products, we managed to increase the revenue generated per kilogram. This picture shows that our product quality and marketing strength are directly reflected in our export value,” he said.
“Our figures are a concrete indication that our sector’s pricing ability and capacity to generate added value are becoming increasingly robust,” he added…
