Ali Çandır: Antalya accounts for 20 percent of fresh fruit and vegetable exports

Antalya Commodity Exchange (ATB) and Antalya Agriculture Council (ATAK) President Ali Çandır evaluated Antalya’s January export figures. Stating that Türkiye’s Mediterranean’s leading province of Antalya’s exports in January 2024 soared by 16.2 percent to 185 million dollars compared to the same month last year, Çandır also noted that agricultural exports increased by 13.7 percent to 114 million dollars in the same period.

Pointing out that the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, which accounts for 40 percent of Antalya’s export value, exported 74 million dollars in January, Çandır said, “Fresh fruit and vegetable exports increased by 10.8 percent compared to the same month last year. I would like to thank our producers, employees and exporters who contributed.”

ANTALYA STANDS OUT IN AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS

“In the month of January 2024, 20.1 percent of Türkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports were made from Antalya region, while 42.2 percent of ornamental plants and products exports were made from Antalya too. In addition, 3.6 percent of the country’s agriculture and food exports were made from Antalya. In January 2024, 1.1 percent of Türkiyes total exports were made from Antalya as well,” he added.

ABOVE THE COUNTRY AVERAGE IN TOTAL EXPORTS

“Ornamental plants and products exports surged by 0.3 percent in Türkiye, while in Antalya decreased by 2.2 percent. While total agricultural and food exports rose by 9.3 percent, it increased by 13.7 percent in Antalya,” he concluded…
