According to the TGDF (Federation of Food and Drink Industry Associations of Turkey) Digital Data Panel prepared by Agrimetre, in the first 9 months of 2020, the agriculture, food and beverage industry realized exports of 14.63 billion dollars and imports of 11.74 billion dollars.
Considering the foreign trade data published according to the General Trade System (GTS), exports increased by 6.3 percent in the first 9 months of 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year, while imports increased by 1.4 percent. In the first 6 months of the year, imports increased by 7.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. This showed that imports slowed down in the following period compared to the first half of 2020.
Most exporting sectors…
When the foreign trade data in the first 9 months of 2020 are examined by sectors, Hard Shell Fruits, Fresh Fruits, Sugar and Confectionary Products, Vegetable Oil and Dried Fruit / Vegetable Sectors are ranked as the sectors with the highest exports. 42.5 percent of total exports were made by these 5 sectors.
Animal Feed, Vegetable Oil, Flour, Starch and Cocoa-Chocolate sectors were ranked as the most importing sectors in the same period. 64.8 percent of total imports were made by these 5 sectors. The Animal Feed Sector alone accounted for 23.9 percent of total imports, almost 1 in 4, with a volume of 2.81 billion dollars.
