In the Alanya district of Antalya, producers have started the harvest of a high income fruit named passiflora (passion fruit).

Passiflora, whose homeland is South America, has reached commercial value by adapting to the climate in Alanya district. Producers started to sell the first harvest of passiflora to chain markets which stands out with its easy maintenance and high productivity that yields twice a year.

Passiflora producer and sapling grower Mustafa Ezici said that passiflora is planted on 350 decares of land in Alanya.

Ezici, who stated that he received 500 thousand sapling planting certificates from the Ministry of Agriculture, said: “We are planning to harvest about 2 thousand tons of fruit per year. It is now the time of fruit harvest. It is harvested twice a year. This is both ivy and a very healthy fruit. A serious source of vitamin. Our advantage is that we can export the fruit, which matures on its branch, to all European countries within three days. It has a very serious market.”
