“We aim to boost the number of fattening OTBs to 31”
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated that they aim to boost the number of Fattening Organised Agricultural Zones (OTB), where animal production enterprises are brought together according to their specialisation, from 9 to 31.
According to the statement made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, fattening OTBs are being established to meet domestic demand by increasing the supply of animal products, to increase productivity and quality in animal food production, especially meat-dairy products, with innovative and sustainable animal husbandry methods. These regions, which offer uninterrupted production, are supported by infrastructure, designed to increase efficiency and sustainability and operate according to the zero waste principle. Fattening OTBs also provide advantages in areas such as controlling every stage of production, maximising hygiene, quality and efficiency, and encouraging low-cost production.

İbrahim Yumaklı, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, also reported that they have put 9 fattening OTBs into operation, where animal production enterprises are brought together according to their specialisation, and noted that they aim to increase the number of fattening OTBs to 31 with the 22 fattening OTBs that they have given legal personality. Yumaklı stated that 22 of the 42 OTBs that gained legal personality are fattening OTBs and added that as the ministry, they support OTBs for both plant and animal production.
