Mehmet Cirav: We export Turkish hazelnut to 124 countries

During the 9-month (1 September 2022-31 May 2024) period of the 2023/2024 hazelnut export season, which started on 1 September 2023, hazelnut exports from Türkiye reached 241 thousand 341 tonnes and a foreign currency inflow of 1 billion 825 million 278 thousand 120 dollars has been provided.

Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), who made evaluations on the subject, stated that exports were made to 124 countries from the country in the 9-month export season.

“The first 3 countries with the highest exports were Germany, Italy and France, which are our traditional export markets and that there was a high rate of increase in our exports to Poland and the People’s Republic of China, which ranked 4th and 5th,” Cirav said.

Mehmet Cirav, who also gave information about hazelnut exports on an annual basis, reported that the hazelnut exports made in the first 5 months of 2023 were 126 thousand 561 tonnes and in return, foreign currency inflow amounting to 1 billion 18 million 752 thousand dollars has been provided.

Pointing out that hazelnut exports from the Black Sea province of Trabzon, in the 9-month period of the hazelnut export season, Cirav added, “489 million 969 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was provided in return for 62 thousand 275 tonnes of hazelnut exports from Trabzon province and on an annual basis, the exports in the first 5 months of the year, which is the January-May period, reached 324 million 93 thousand dollars for 38 thousand 292 tonnes and thus approximately 32 percent of the total hazelnut exports were carried out from Trabzon province.”
