YAMANYILMAZ: ASHIB AWARDED ADANA’S ANIMAL FOOD EXPORT CHAMPIONS

Mediterranean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association (ASHIB), which provided 524.8 million dollars of support to Türkiye’s 3.4 billion dollars aquaculture and animal products exports in 2021, awarded the 15 members with the highest exports from Adana province. Adana’s share in ASHIB’s exports is 33 percent…

Making the opening speech of the ceremony, Ali Can Yamanyılmaz, ASHIB Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, evaluated the quality and healthy production of ASHIB, which has a deep rooted history of 82 years, in a wide range of products from aquatic products to poultry meat and eggs, from honey to dairy products, from red meat products to offal, in the world markets. He also stressed that ASHIB earned hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign currency for the company.

Ali Can Yamanyılmaz said, “Our exports of fisheries and animal products across the country reached 3.4 billion dollars in 2021 with an increase of 38.8 percent compared to the previous year, while our regional exports increased by 82 percent to 524.8 million dollars. The support of our Adana province to regional exports was reflected at the level of 33 percent.”

Noting that ASHIB continued its upward acceleration in export performance in 2022, Yamanyılmaz underlined that they reached an export value of 426.7 million dollars with an increase of 22.16 percent in the January-September period.

Field fishing and cage fishing projects introduced…

Noting that as ASHİB, they ensured the realization of three important projects in Adana, Yamanyılmaz first informed the guests about the Fisheries and Aquaculture Specialization Organized Industrial Zone project, which will provide a 30 percent rise in Türkiye’s aquaculture exports exceeding 1 billion dollars.

Explaining that they have positioned the field fishery project, which is a first in the country, on an area of ​​6,500 decares in the Karataş District of Adana, Yamanyılmaz reminded that they will ensure the production, preservation, processing, packaging, laboratory and supplementary industrial facilities of high value-added fish and fishery products in the region and that they will develop their laboratory and complementary industrial facilities in the region while they aim to produce 60 thousand tonnes and export 250 million dollars.

Yamanyılmaz explained that the Adana Food Specialization Organized Industrial Zone, which will strengthen the competitiveness of animal food exporters in the region with its clustering model, continues on an area of ​​2,000 decares in Sarıçam district.

Announcing that the cage fishery project they have planned in Karataş and Yumurtalık offshores under the auspices of our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will be operational by the beginning of the year, Yamanyılmaz added, “Our cage fishing project with an annual capacity of 50 thousand tonnes, which we carry out under the auspices of our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, has matured. In this project, where all kinds of permits and infrastructure works have been completed, 32 investors, most of whom are members of our Association, will soon start production.”

“In the first months of 2023, fish fries will be placed in cages and raised in accordance with international standards, and the fish reaching the desired size will be harvested and exported to world markets. We aim to earn 150 million dollars in foreign currency to the country’s economy with the fishery products we will grow in this project, which will provide employment for 1,300 people,” he concluded…
