Metro Turkey, implemented many projects on food safety so far, has newly kicked off the move of “What’s on your plate?”
The life story of 430 fresh vegetables and fruit varieties, including 8 thousand 500 products in total, from field to table is shared with 15 different traceability information.
Both professional customers and end consumers will be able to see which farmer harvested the product in which field and when, when they scan the QR code on the product’s label.
In addition, it will be able to follow the whole story of the product, from pesticide and heavy metal analysis, to the field where it is harvested and the facilities where it is packaged.
Metro CEO of Turkey Sinem Türüng said, “Pandemic create awareness on safe product selection. As well as surges in imitation and adulteration along with the use of uncontrolled and unconscious pesticides have been changing the expectations where the food exists.”
