The Fisheries sector, which brought in foreign currency of 1 billion 97 million dollars to Turkey in the January-October period of 2021, added a new ring to the University-Export cooperation in order to increase its export figures.
Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, which carries out more than 70 percent of Turkey’s seafood exports, in cooperation with Ege University Fisheries Faculty, has analysed nutritional values for sea bass, sea bream, Turkish salmon and trout species that stand out in aquaculture exports.
Analysis results of the nutritional values of sea bass, sea bream, Turkish salmon and trout were shared with the public at a press conference with the participation of Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association Chairman of the Board Bedri Girit, İzmir Fisheries Breeders and Producers Association Chairman Ufuk Atakan Demir, Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association Board of Directors Member İsmail Aksoy, Dean of Aegean University Faculty of Fisheries Professor Dr. Uğur Sunlu and Aegean University Fisheries Faculty Deputy Dean Professor Dr. Mehmet Tolga Dinçer.

Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association Chairman Bedri Girit said, “In the last 20-25 years, Turkish entrepreneurs brought the world’s most modern and integrated facilities in the aquaculture sector to our country. We have come to the position of exporting our protein-rich aquatic products produced in these facilities to more than 90 countries. In the January-October period of 2021, we exported aquatic products worth 1.09 billion dollars. In the January-October 2021 period, Turkish sea bass became the favourite of the whole world with an export amount of 383 million dollars.”
“While Turkey obtains 311 million dollars foreign exchange from the export of sea bream; trout exports were recorded as 123 million dollars and tuna exports as 20 million dollars,” Girit added…
