Press release…
The shining sector of food exports, the fresh fruit, vegetable and products industry, came together with buyers from all over the world at the world’s largest food fair, ANUGA.
Stating that the fruit and vegetable products industry participated in the ANUGA Fair held in Cologne, Germany, Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (EYMSİB) Chairperson Hayrettin Uçak said that they had a 2 billion dollars export target set by the fruit and vegetable products sector for the end of 2021 and with the export agreements made at the ANUGA Fair, they have come one step closer.
Sharing the information that Turkey’s exports of fruit and vegetable products increased from 1 billion 198 million dollars to 1 billion 470 million dollars in the January-September period of 2021 with a rise of 23 percent, Uçak said, “The Aegean Region received a share of 584 million dollars from the export of fruit and vegetable products and continued its leadership. Many of our companies, which are exporters of fruit and vegetable products in the Aegean Region, took their place in the ANUGA Fair and returned home with new export connections.”
Touching on the fact that the epidemic boosted the demand for fruit and vegetable products, Uçak continued as follows: “Turkey has maintained its position as a producer during the pandemic period. In the January-September period of 2021, fruit juices made the biggest contribution to Turkey’s exports of 1 billion 470 million dollars of fruit and vegetable products, with an amount of 267 million dollars. While pickle exports amounted to 218 million dollars, the carbonated drinks sector achieved 194 million dollars of exports. We are striving to reach our 2 billion dollars export target for 2021. The reorganization of in-person fairs will make it easier for us to reach our goal.”
“Germany took the first place in the export of fruit and vegetable products with an export of 200 million dollars, while the United States took the second place with a demand of 185 million dollars. As for Iraq, we succeeded in exporting 145 million dollars of fruit and vegetable products,” Uçak added.
Cengiz Balık, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association along with members of the Board of Directors; Martin Erdemir Sanford, Mehmet Ata Özdemir, Mehmet Kırıcı and Türkmen Türkmenoğlu represented the Association at the exhibition.
