Türkiye Earned 60,989,000 dollars from Dried Tomato Exports in the First Half of the Year…

Türkiye generated 60,989,000 dollars from the export of 18,301 tonnes of dried tomatoes to 91 countries in the January-June

period of 2026.

Türkiye, the world’s third largest tomato producer after China and India with an annual production exceeding 14 million tonnes, transforms its tomatoes into value-added products such as tomato paste, sauces and dried tomatoes, in addition to fresh consumption.

Dried tomatoes are among the top value-added products in the tomato industry, with the majority of production taking place in Antalya, Mersin, and Izmir provinces.

The export journey of tomatoes harvested in many provinces begins with a challenging production process under the scorching sun in July.

Tomatoes transported from the fields to drying areas by trucks and tractors are individually halved by workers. Tomatoes, salted or treated with sulfur according to customer demand, are left in the sun for about a week before being cleaned and packaged at processing facilities.

Dried tomatoes, prepared in various parts of Türkiye, reach tables in many markets, primarily in European countries and the USA, to be used in products such as pasta, pizza, salads and hamburgers…
