Mersin Province Citrus Producers’ Association Chairman Ahmet Dursun Şahin said that Turkish producers have started to strengthen their place in the European market in recent years.
Pointing out that the increase in exports to Italy is an important development, Şahin said:
“Italy as one of the citrus producing Mediterranean countries shows more interest in Turkish citrus. It is evident that how much quality has Turkish citrus fruits. Italy is among the countries increasing the demand by capturing this reality. This development demonstrates the power of Turkey in European market very clearly. Producers are pleased with the increase in exports to the European Union countries on top of Italy.”
“The fact that Turkish citrus is being preferred in Europe and this has been welcomed in our sector. According to the quantity and value during the January-September period, the highest increase experienced in Italy compared to the last year. Turkish citrus being preferred by the Italians should be regarded as a concrete expression of our quality manufacturing, packaging and logistics,” Şahin added…
