TARGET STANDS FOR AGRICULTURAL AND FOOD ETHICS IN TURKEY…

THE ASSOCIATION OF AGRICULTURE AND FOOD ETHICS…

The founding idea of the Association of Agriculture and Food Ethics has emerged during the preparation process of ‘Promoting Agricultural and Food Ethics in Turkey and Improving the Ethical Decision‐making Capacity of the Stakeholders in Agriculture‐TARGET’ project, carried out by the Bioethics Association and funded EU along with Turkish Republic.

In this process, the formations and activities that have not yet been realized in our country in the field of agriculture and food ethics were examined and it was observed that there were no non-governmental organizations in this regard. Based on this data, the establishment of an agriculture and food ethics association is included among the work packages of the project.

The association was established on 30 March 2016 in Ankara, the Association Statute was adopted on 10 May 2016 and the first ordinary general assembly was held on 5 November 2016.

The purpose of the association; to contribute to the development of ethical awareness and sensitivity about ethical issues and problems that arise in all activities covered by the agriculture and food system.

Professor Cemal Taluğ has been the chairman of TARGET since the establishment.

Goals have been determined as follows:

To contribute to and monitor the committees and decision processes related to the field of agriculture and food ethics to be formed by public institutions, private sector institutions and non-governmental organizations; developing principles, norms, useful models

To do all kinds of studies for education

Doing research and supporting research

Establishing international collaborationsOrganizing symposiums, congresses, workshops

Certification

Publication, documentation

To work towards informing the society about this issue and increasing awareness
