“We analysed 113 studies evaluating the effect of various nuts such as almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamias, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, walnuts and peanuts on blood lipid results,” the study says.

“The mean daily dose was set at 45.5 grams of nuts per day and this dose was compared with a group that did not consume nuts.

The findings showed that overall, nut consumption resulted in moderate reductions in total cholesterol and LDL (bad) cholesterol, and moderate reductions in triglycerides and apolipoprotein B.

The researchers explained that nut consumption contributes to the reduction of cardiovascular risk by positively affecting blood lipids in adults.”
