The Turkish fishery sector, which has become one of the locomotive sectors of exports in Türkiye since the beginning of the 2000s, has ramped up its exports by 65 percent in the last 5 years, from 1 billion to 1.7 billion dollars.
Sinan Kızıltan, Chairman of the Sector Board of the Turkish Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Associations, reported that Türkiye, which is Europe’s largest producer of sea bass and sea bream, exports aquaculture products to more than 100 countries and stated that Türkiye is the second in the world in trout production and that bluefin tuna caught in the international waters of the Mediterranean and off the coast of Malta are exported to Japan.

Informing that they have been effectively promoting Turkish seafood products in the US market since 2018 thanks to the Turkish Tastes TURQUALITY Project, Kızıltan said, “Our recently launched Turkish Sea Food Turquality project aims to showcase the unique flavours of Turkish seafood products worldwide. Within the scope of these projects, we want to establish strong ties with industry professionals around the world. We cooperate with prestigious institutions such as universities, restaurant associations and culinary federations.”
