Sea bream, sea bass and Turkish salmon took the lead in Turkey’s aquaculture exports in 2022.
Fisheries exports from Türkiye to 96 countries, especially the Russian Federation, increased by 4 percent in quantity and 17 percent in value compared to the previous year. The first three products in export were sea bream with 70 thousand 974 tonnes, sea bass with 64 thousand 662 tonnes and Turkish salmon with 49 thousand 215 tonnes.
Last year, Türkiye sold a variety of aquatic products, primarily sea bream, sea bass and Turkish salmon to 96 countries.
According to the compilation made from the data of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), 245 thousand 760 tonnes of fishery products were exported in 2022, resulting in a gain of 1 billion 604 million 971 thousand 300 dollars.
Accordingly, exports rose by 4 percent in quantity and 17 percent in value compared to 2021, which generated 1 billion 376 million 546 thousand 85 dollars in return for 236 thousand 83 tonens of fishery products.
Sea bream earned 372 million 63 thousand 694 dollars for 70 thousand 974 tonnes, 503 million 229 thousand 970 dollars for 64 thousand 662 tons of sea bass and 363 million 175 thousand 116 dollars for 49 thousand 215 tons of Turkish salmon.
The Russian Federation, Italy and the United Kingdom were the countries with the highest exports.
Last year, 297 million 463 thousand 376 dollars of fishery products were sold to the Russian Federation, 170 million 986 thousand 243 dollars to Italy and 158 million 870 thousand 550 dollars to the United Kingdom.
