Şanlıurfa Commodity Exchange Assembly Chair İsa Kızıldemir said that pistachio is an important agricultural crop for Southeastern farmers, especially Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep provinces.
Stating that pistachio also contributes significantly to the Turkish economy, Kızıldemir said, “Because pistachio is a high-yielding agricultural crop, it brings profit to both the producer, the industrialist and the exporter. Despite the fact that this important agricultural product was ‘available’ (have-year) last year, there was a decrease in yield all over the country due to climatic conditions, but our exports continued.”
“With the rising number of trees, we expect the pistachio harvest to double in the coming periods and this situation will bring the export figures to more serious dimensions,” he added….
