Honey from the Eastern Black Sea region was sold to 11 countries, primarily the US, between January and July.

Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), told an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter that 338 tonnes of honey were exported from the region in 7 months.

Kalyoncu noted that 1,408,541 dollars in export revenue was generated. “The US ranked first with 604,082 dollars. This was followed by Germany with 491,763 dollars and the United Arab Emirates with 95,678 dollars. Honey was also sold from the region to Jordan, Morocco and the Netherlands during this period,” he said.
Stating that honey is among the region’s major export products, he noted, “We’ve just completed seven months of honey exports. We believe our exports can be further increased with geographically indicated and branded products. Therefore, we attach great importance to efforts in this direction.”
Kalyoncu expressed his belief that honey exports will reach much higher levels and added that they will focus on efforts to increase export potential in the coming days.
