The Eastern Black Sea Region saw exports totaling 1.018 billion dollars from January to August 2025 from the provinces of Trabzon, Rize, Artvin and Gümüşhane. In the first eight months of 2025, exports from the Eastern Black Sea Region amounted to 781.078 million dollars from Trabzon, 132.905 million dollars from Rize, 58.324 million dollars from Gümüşhane and 46.596 million dollars from Artvin province. Compared to the same period of the previous year, exports from the region’s provinces saw a 31 percent spike in Gümüşhane, while exports from Trabzon decreased by 6 percent, Rize by 19 percent and Artvin by 16 percent.
The sectors with the highest exports from the provinces of Trabzon, Rize, Artvin and Gümüşhane between January and August 2025 were Hazelnuts with 455,563,000 dollars, Fisheries and Livestock Products with 137,394,000 dollars, Mining and Metals with 128,716,000 dollars and Fresh Fruits and Vegetables with 93,542,000 dollars.
Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) President Saffet Kalyoncu, commenting on the decline in regional exports, attributed the decline to rising production costs, structural problems in transportation and logistics and the gradual weakening of regional companies’ competitiveness in international markets.
Highlighting that regional exports are now clearly sending out a SOS, he emphasized, “For sustainable exports and production, it is essential for Trabzon to be included in the 5th Region of the investment incentive system or included in the Attraction Centres Programme. We hope that the authorities will now heed our call.”
