Mehmet Cirav: We export hazelnuts to 118 countries

In the January-August period of 2025, 175,000 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported from Türkiye, generating 1.467 billion dollars in foreign currency inflows. Compared to the same period of the previous year, these exports decreased by 7 percent in quantity and 5 percent in value.

Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Associations (DKİB) Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee, announced that Türkiye exported to 118 different countries in the first seven months of the year, with the top five export destinations being Germany, Italy, France, Poland and Spain.

Informing that during the 12-month hazelnut export season, which began in September, 309,549 tonnes of hazelnuts generated 2.557 billion dollars in foreign currency inflows, he said, “The exports compared to the same month of the previous year, there was a 2 percent increase in quantity and 9 percent in value.”

Pointing out that hazelnut exports from Trabzon province are 51,779 tonnes in the first eight months of 2025, generated a foreign exchange inflow of 455,563,000 dollars, he noted, “Compared to the same period of the previous year, there was a 12 percent decrease in export volume and a 10 percent decrease in value. Within this context, Trabzon province ranks first in hazelnut exports and 31 percent of hazelnut exports from the country between January and August of 2025 were accounted for by Trabzon region alone.”

“In the 12-month period of the 2024/2025 export season, 88,525 tonnes, equivalent to 784 million 57 thousand dollars, were exported from Trabzon and that there was a 7 percent increase in quantity and a 16 percent increase in value compared to the same period of the previous season,” he added…
