Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), announced that 436 tonnes of honey was exported to 12 countries in the first 11 months of the year.
A total income of 1 million 819 thousand 831 USD was obtained from these exports.
USA IS IN THE FIRST PLACE…
Kalyoncu stated that the country with the highest honey exports was the USA with an export of 866 thousand 643 dollars. The USA was followed by Germany with 376 thousand 367 dollars and Saudi Arabia with 232 thousand 971 dollars. In addition, honey was sold to many countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Libya, Qatar, Oman, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom and Kuwait.
‘WE ARE WORKING TO RAMP UP HONEY EXPORTS’
Referring to the importance of honey exports for the regional economy, Kalyoncu noted that they aim to ramp up exports even more in the new year. “The companies’ attention to branded products and packaging in accordance with consumer preferences contributed positively to exports,” Kalyoncu said.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE WITH HOPE…
“I believe that both product diversity and the number of exporting countries will increase in the coming period. We believe that our product and country diversity will reach much better levels in the coming days. Next year, I hope we will have a much better export season,” Kalyoncu added.
