In the first seven months of 2024; Hazelnut exports from Türkiye reached 170 thousand 325 tonnes and 1 billion 385 million 231 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was provided in return and there was an increase of 11 percent in quantity and 44 percent in value in the 7-month exports compared to the same period of the previous year.
Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), who made evaluations on the subject, stated that exports were made to 120 countries from the country in the 7-month period and that the first 3 countries with the highest exports were Germany, Italy and France, which are Türkiye’s traditional export markets and that there was a high rate of spike the our exports to the People’s Republic of China, which ranked 5th.
Cirav also gave information about hazelnut exports on a periodic basis and said, “Hazelnut exports made in the 11-month period of the 2023/2024 season were 285 thousand 82 tonnes and in return, foreign currency inflow was provided in the amount of 2 billion 191 million 578 thousand dollars and the exports rose by 1 percent in quantity compared to the same period of the previous year and a spike of 29 percent in value has been achieved.”
Cirav also reminded that the producers should act very carefully in the hazelnut collection and drying processes and emphasised that the hazelnut should be collected after the hazelnut reaches the maturity that falls from the branch.
“Drying process should not be carried out in a humid environment and the hazelnut should not be kept under rain,” Cirav added…
