Export target of 500 thousand tonnes of fishery products…

Türkiye Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Associations Sector Board Chairman Sinan Kızıltan said, “Our Fisheries and Animal Products Sector has exceeded 4 billion dollars for the first time in its history. Our aquaculture exports reached 1.6 billion dollars. While the export of fishery products was 79 thousand tonnes in the 2000s, it reached 471 thousand tonnes in 2021. Our goal is to reach 500 thousand tonnes. For the first time this year, aquaculture has passed hunting. Yet we predicted it in 2030, but this year we have got it. Aquaculture products account for 59 percent of fishery production in the country. Production through aquaculture is increasing by 12 percent every year.”

“Türkiye’s aquaculture production and export has come a long way, especially with the investments made in recent years. One of the factors surging exports is that our Turkish entrepreneurs brought the world’s most modern and integrated facilities to our country in the aquaculture and animal products sector in the last 20-25 years. Norway’s population is 8 million, but its exports are 13 billion dollars. China consumes 80 percent of its production in its domestic market. Our industry has the potential to carry its exports and our country’s aquaculture consumption to higher levels,” he added…
