Balparmak, which has been working for half a century to protect honey, the miraculous gift of bees and nature and to ensure that it reaches the tables in its natural form, draws attention to the source of naturalness with its awareness project ‘Where Does This Naturalness Come From?’.

Özen Altıparmak, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Balparmak and BALDER (Healthy Life Platform Association With Bee Products), stated as Balparmak, they respectfully take over this natural cooperation that continues with the miracle of nature, the labour of bees and the sacrifice of beekeepers.
“We carefully follow and protect the unique story of honey from nature to the table and deliver it to your tables. This is where the naturalness of our honey comes from,” he says.
“Nature will continue to exist even without us, but we all know that without nature, human beings cannot survive. Despite knowing this fact, humans, who have the ability to recognise their impact on the environment, make decisions that harm nature, the environment, the ecosystem and themselves every day. Humans destroy nature, what comes from nature, what is natural and replaces it with artificial equivalents. The most striking example of this is honey… However, natural honey, which has not been subjected to any artificial intervention, almost stops time itself. One of the most striking examples of this is the closed honey jars discovered by archaeologists in the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Egyptian pyramids, dating back to the B.C. period, which were preserved intact despite the passage of thousands of years. Enzymes naturally found in honey that prevent bacterial growth.”

Pointing out that Balparmak, a leading brand in the honey industry, has been committed to promoting the value of honey for almost fifty years, he explains, “As the industry leader, we feel a responsibility towards the country, the beekeepers who work diligently and the consumers. Unfortunately, beekeepers face challenges competing against fraudulent products that claim to be honey but are not. Beekeeping is deeply rooted in Türkiye’s heritage and is often practiced as a family profession, with people of all ages involved in the demanding work.”
“The difficulties faced by beekeepers extend beyond the labour-intensive nature of their profession. The issue of imitation and adulteration threatens the production of natural honey. Beekeepers devote themselves to their work throughout the year, maintaining a close connection with nature. They go through a challenging journey that spans from spring, when nature awakens and flowers bloom, to mid-December,” he notes.
Reminding that in order to access and protect natural honey, beekeepers must overcome various obstacles, he warns, “One of the key challenges they face is the battle against honey adulteration, where low-quality products are passed off as natural honey. This poses a threat to both the livelihoods of beekeepers and the trust of consumers.”

“To address this issue, Balparmak has been involved in numerous social responsibility and awareness projects. These initiatives aim to educate consumers about the importance of supporting genuine honey products while ensuring the welfare of beekeepers. Balparmak believes that promoting the value of natural honey is crucial not only for the industry but also for preserving Turkish traditions and the heritage of beekeeping,” he adds.
In conclusion, beekeeping is not only a profession but a relic of nature deeply rooted in Türkiye’s heritage. Balparmak is leading the way in promoting the value of natural honey and supporting beekeepers in their struggle against fraudulent products. By raising awareness and educating consumers, the company is working towards protecting the legacy of beekeeping and ensuring the authenticity of honey products in the market.
Follow the Trace of Honey from Hive to Table!
Balparmak makes it possible to access natural honey safely with the ‘Where Does This Naturalness Come From’ traceability project it offers to its consumers. With this project, thanks to the QR Code application placed on Balparmak products, it provides consumers with the opportunity to verify their products and access the analysis report of the products.
Özen Altıparmak also expresses the importance they attach to this project in the following words: “We want our consumers to be able to see that the product they take home and put on their table is natural and has all quality standards, from which region it comes from and the plant flower source of the pollen in it. Thus, once they have all the information about the product, all that remains is for them to consume it with pleasure and peace of mind. We see this as a requirement of our 45 years of sector leadership and our responsibility to our consumers.”
