Number of organic producers in the world exceeds 4.5 million…

Thirty-seven companies from Türkiye exhibited their products within the scope of green agriculture and competitive price vision at the Nuremberg Organic Food Fair (BioFach), which is described as “the world’s largest organic food fair”.

The Turkish organic sector showed suppliers from all over the world that it is the world’s organic food warehouse.

According to the “World of Organic Agriculture-Statistics and Emerging Trends 2024” report presented at BIOFACH, the number of organic producers in the world has exceeded 4.5 million.

While organic food sales reached approximately 135 billion euros in 2022, the global organic agriculture area increased to 96 million hectares. Australia continues to be the country with the largest organic agricultural area with 53 million hectares, followed by India with 4.7 million hectares. In 2022, only 2 per cent of the world’s agricultural land was seen to be managed organically.

The USA continued to be the world’s leading market in organic food sales in 2022 with 56.6 billion euros, followed by Germany with 15.3 billion euros and China with 12.4 billion euros.

While per capita spending on organic food was 17 euros globally, the Swiss spent the most with an average of 437 euros per person…
