Within the scope of the ‘Herd Management Staff (Shepherd)’ project of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for shepherds, 47,359 shepherds successfully completed the training and were entitled to receive certificates.

Courses have been organized for shepherds across the country since 2013 within the scope of the ‘Active Labour Market Programmes Cooperation Protocol’ carried out by Education and Publication Department of the Ministry (EYDB), General Directorate of Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), General Directorate of Livestock (HAYGEM), General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM), Union of Turkish Agricultural Chambers (TZOB) and Türkiye Sheep and Goat Breeders’ Association (TÜDKİYEB).
Forty seven thousand 359 people who participated in the 2029 training programmes given by technical staff in public education centres affiliated to the provincial national education directorates, have received their certificates.
Those who are candidates to be herd management personnel or herd management personnel in the trainings are taught topics such as setting up a sheep pen and goat shelter, choosing sheep and goat breeds, feeding and caring for sheep and goats, reproduction, breeding, protecting and fighting against infectious and animal diseases, mastering biosecurity practices and milking…
