Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Nihat Pakdil attended the ‘World Milk Day’ event held in a restaurant in Ankara. In addition to Pakdil, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Agriculture Commission Yunus Kılıç and sector representatives took part in the programme.

Regarding the studies to be carried out on agriculture, Pakdil said, “In general, let me tell you what we will do in agriculture, what we plan to do, I want to make a statement about it. Our priority is, of course, production. Sustainability and efficiency in production. Our topic regarding this is milk. Therefore, cattle and ovine (small cattle) breeding is our milk source. Our livestock, current pastures and forage crop production areas are the areas that provide us with resources for this business.”

“NO ONE WILL HAVE TO BE CONCERNED”

Mentioning that efforts will be made to ensure the continuity of farmers and breeders in the sector, Pakdil explained, “An account book will be made to ensure the continuity of the sector, our products will be evaluated by taking into account what our costs are and what our farmers and growers should receive for this, a share of welfare. If the price of the product in the market If the amount is lower than the projected cost and the amount of money that our farmers should receive, including the welfare share, it will be provided in the form of difference payment. So no one will have to worry about ‘I will harm the crop I plant, the animal I raise, the milk I produce and the meat I produce’. In order to do this, the improvement and breeding works on livestock will continue.”

We aim to increase productivity by providing healthy products and well-managed herds, both in terms of feed and how we will feed them.”

“These will be done collaboratively. The statement of our Honorable Minister; ‘We will not govern, we will be in governance’.
