Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZİB) visited the three companies that exported the most from EZZİB in 2020 and presented their awards.
EZZİB Chairperson Davut Er said that they could not hold an award ceremony last year due to the pandemic, so they visited the first three companies to celebrate and presented their awards.
Davut Er said, “As an industry, we exported 271 million dollars of olive and olive oil in 2020. We rewarded our three members who contributed the most to our exports with 38 million dollars by visiting them at their places. I congratulate our award-winning companies for their success. At the same time, I heartily congratulate all our members who have a share in our exports of 271 million dollars. After 2002, Turkey’s olive tree assets increased from 90 million to 180 million. When these trees become productive, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry expects an annual yield of 650 thousand tonnes of olive oil and 1 million 200 thousand tonnes of table olives. Exporting is vital for this production to turn into added value.”
Explaining that as the only Exporters’ Association in Turkey, they will continue their promotional and marketing activities in order to reach the export target of 1.5 billion dollars, Davut Er continued his words as follows:
“The USA, which is the largest olive oil importer and Australia and Japan, whose olive oil consumption has increased rapidly in recent years, are among our important target countries. Germany, where Turkish citizens are concentrated, is one of the markets that we focus on as target countries in the import of table olives and Bulgaria and Romania, where consumption is very high.”
“China is already a primary target market for us as Aegean Exporters’ Associations. In addition to the need for additional support and an action plan to increase our competitiveness in India, it is also important to prepare a separate action plan for food products for the United Kingdom and to determine it as a target country. The United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Russia are also our target markets, which we attach great importance to both olive oil and table olives,” Davut Er added…
