Press release…

Işık: “We are the world leader in the production and export of seedless raisins, dried apricots and dried figs.”

Mehmet Ali Işık, Chairperson of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that World Food Day, October 16th, presents a significant opportunity to remember the importance of food and emphasize our commitment to prioritizing quality and sustainability in production.

He highlighted that Türkiye is the world leader in the production and export of seedless raisins, dried apricots and dried figs; in addition that the Aegean Region is at the heart of this success, with more than half of the country’s dried fruit exports coming from the Aegean Region.

Pointing out that Türkiye’s dried fruit exports reached 1.85 billion dollars in 2024, he said, “The majority of exports were from seedless raisins, dried apricots and dried figs. Turkish dried fruit not only maintains its strong position in traditional markets, but also increases its brand value internationally thanks to the Turquality Project and participation in global trade fairs. Promotion and tasting events held at the MEWA Fair in India also strengthened the awareness of our products. Sustainability, a priority in our sector, has been recognized internationally and we received the INC Excellence in Sustainability / Back to People award.”

“The 2025-2026 season stands out with both challenging climatic conditions and high-value export opportunities. Adapting to climate change, sustainable production and reducing our carbon footprint will be the priorities of our sector in the coming period,” he added…
